Matthew 5: 43-45

“[Love for Enemies] "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”

Reflect

This is one of my favorite Bible passages because of its challenging message. Everyone has heard someone tell them to be forgiving of their enemies, whether it be a parent, friend, or priest. Its easy to tell yourself to forgive others, but when you get in a situation where someone has hurt you in some way, we sometimes tell ourselves we will never forgive them. But no matter how harsh the act was, we have to forgive them nonetheless. It can take our entire lives to learn to forgive completely. This Bible message is one of my favorites because I think that this is one of Jesus' most important teachings. We need to be forgiving to connect with God.
