Jesus said to his twelve Apostles, "I am sending you out like sheep to a pack of wolves. You must be cautious as snakes and as gentle as doves. Everyone will hate you because of me. But whoever hold out to the end will be saved. Matthew 10:16, 22
Voltaire was a French philosopher and wit. Often in trouble with authorities, he was exiled to England in the early 1700s. At that time anti-French feelings ran high. One day Voltaire was surrounded by an angry mob in London. It began shouting, "Hang him! Hang the Frenchman!" Pleading for silence, Voltaire cried out, convincingly, "Men of England! You wish to kill me because I am French. Has not the good God punished enough by not letting me be born an Englishman?" This delightful appeal tickled the mob so much athat they cheered Voltaire and escorted him safely back to his dwelling.
How well do I keep my cool and respond diplomatically when people say things that make me fighting mad?
Anger is the wind that blows out the lamp of the mind. Robert Ingersoll

There are many times when it is very hard for me to keep my cool. I get really angry when people make ignorant statements about faith or government. However, I try to keep my anger in check, and I usually ask them to explain their beliefs. I also can get fighting mad when people think they are always right. We are not going to be right about everything. There are times we might be wrong, and we have to learn to accept that.
